Is refraining from participation in the Islamic movement considered sinful?

Participation in the Islamic movement, known as “Jihad fi Sabilillah”, is a compulsory duty for Muslims. Abstaining from it, despite having the ability, is considered sinful.

Allah says in the Qur’an:
"And thus We have made you a just community that you will be witnesses over mankind, and the Messenger will be a witness over you." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:143)

"You are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong." (Surah Aal-e-Imran 3:110)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:
"I leave you with five matters which Allah has commanded me: 1) To maintain unity in Jama’ah, 2) To listen attentively to the leader’s instructions, 3) To obey the leader, 4) To perform Hijrah, and 5) To perform Jihad. Whoever leaves the Jama’ah has loosened the rope of Islam from his neck." (Tirmidhi: 2863)
